CONTEMPORARY ART (7 Shortlisted nominees)
Surazica /Anna Zolotukhina
Techniques: Surrealism. Glitter & Acrylic on canvas.
Today’s artistic climate is wrought with formality. Collage artist ANNA ZOLOTUKHINA, also known as SURAZICA, breaks up the monotony with her fantasy worlds built from fragments of her imagination. Her surreal compositions provide a playground for the mind. Mixing traditional collage techniques with digital animation and acrylic painting, she brings her dreams to the conscious world.
Zolotukhina has always been an artist, but only began her journey into collage three years ago. As soon as she started working in the medium, she knew that it aligned with her view of the world. She’s full of existential philosophies and theories about the human existence. She rearranges the physical world to reflect the dualities of life; instinct versus intellect, material versus emotional, form versus function.
“The perfect form is the harmonic balance of beauty and ugliness in a single whole.”-AZ
The results of her process are mesmerizing. Zolotukhina’s pieces are freaky with tinges of dark romanticism and delicate femininity. The plethora of textures and colors and body parts and machinery and animals are meticulously accumulated into giant dreamscapes.
“All these are small pieces of reflected reality which are passed through unconsciousness and randomly stitched together forming a new world.” -AZ
Originally from Russia, Zolotukhina is currently based in Thailand soaking up the inspiration and piecing together her latest projects.

2. Ilya Falchevsky
B&W dark surrealism
At the tender young age of ten years old, Ilya Falchevsky began his journey experimenting with structures and composition. His obsession was born from collecting a cornucopia of street materials and rare urban curios which would become one of his many experiments in sculptural and photo art. Even then, Ilya understood that investing in such an abundance of street material was not a wasted effort, as these items of found scrap would help him realise
his inner world through the prism of his unbounded vision and expression. This was inevitably influenced by the reality surrounding human nature. Ilya created his own universe which has since expanded into a macrocosm of new milky ways, laden with inate artistic possibilities. Through his light box installations, sculpture, music and photography Ilya discovered that these presented a portal to a particular moment relating to his mental state. These would provide a silver of that very moment. This in turn would be recoursed in a special projection chiffonier in a process akin to unique ritualistic initiation. Through life lessons, luck and mistakes, he continues to gain knowledge which feeds into his works. To date, Ilya has nad a number of successful private and group exhibitions in both Riga, New York and London.

All embroidered details in both clothing and accessory collections are handmade.
My collections were featured on Vogue Italia website, the Bite Magazine (UK), approved by Not Just a Label, exhibited in TSUM (Moscow) and shown on several catwalks in Russia and in London (2017).

Sam Covington (known as DJ Sam Covie) is a DJ from Bedford. Working with artists including Annie Mack, Edris Elba and Pete Tong, Mark Knight and Roger Sanchez. He has performed in some of the world’s most famous clubs including Pacha, Ministry Of Sound, Ocean Beach, Egg Club and the Ibiza Tour in the UK.
Sam’s career started from a young age, spending endless hours as a teenager mixing and dreaming of his future career. As a late teen he got his first break performing alongside his hero DJ EZ - from there he continued to make a name for himself on the Bedford club scene and then spreading his wings across the UK making him into the DJ he is today.
Although his passion is bringing music to life during his sets, his future and greatest love is making his own music. Last year (2018) was a big year for Sam, playing at venues such as Ocean Beach, Ministry Of Sound and even playing for the CEO of The Tribe LDN
His future aspirations are to keep learning and take every opportunity. One day he wants to be the one headlining in the biggest club in the world, and who knows maybe the next “Sam Covie” will be waiting to have his or her opportunity with him.
Being a DJ has helped Sam grow, given him focus, help his sense of worth, but most of all, when it is done he believes it can make memories for those in the crowd to talk about forever more."
